What we collect

• Newsletter subscribers: name, email address, signup source (including campaign tags such as utm_source from the link you arrived from), confirmation status, consent timestamp, IP address, user agent, unsubscribe token, and estimated email open and link-click events.
• Reader submissions: name/email if provided, source URL, message, timestamp, IP address, and user agent.
• Cookieless site analytics: page path, campaign tags in the link you arrived from (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term), country, coarse location rounded to whole degrees, and a daily rotating pseudonymous visitor identifier. Raw IP addresses and user agents are not stored in analytics events.
• Subscribe prompts: whether you viewed, closed, or submitted the subscribe popup, the slide-in, or the /join page, with the campaign tags of your visit and the website you came from (domain only). After you subscribe, or when you arrive from a link in one of our emails, a first-party cookie (mcpn_sub, one year) and a browser storage flag remember that you are subscribed so the prompts stay hidden. We set no advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we collect it

We use this data to send the newsletter, prevent abuse, maintain consent records, process unsubscribe requests, understand aggregate site usage, and review reader-submitted MCP projects, feedback, and sponsorship inquiries.

Legal basis

Newsletter email is sent with your consent. Security logs and abuse prevention are processed under legitimate interest.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. For access, correction, deletion, or export requests, email contact@mcpnewsletter.com.

Retention

Subscriber records are kept while you remain subscribed. Unsubscribed records may be retained as suppression records to prevent accidental re-subscription. Reader submissions may be retained for editorial review unless deletion is requested. Cookieless site analytics events and subscribe-prompt events are retained for up to 90 days.

Processors

The service runs on Cloudflare Workers, D1, and Cloudflare Email Sending (contact form notifications). Newsletter emails (confirmation, welcome, and editions) are sent through beehiiv (beehiiv Inc., United States), which receives subscribers' names, email addresses, subscription status, and the campaign tags of the signup for that purpose, and measures email opens and link clicks. Earlier editions were delivered through Resend. DNS/mailbox services may be provided by Cloudflare and PrivateEmail/Namecheap depending on configuration.
